Obviously, you should look to hire a lawyer that is experienced and competent, preferably one who exclusively practices family law. But, what else should you look for? I tell people to look for someone who feels like a personality fit; someone you feel comfortable talking to about private, serious and sensitive subjects and topics. I also believe you should look for a lawyer who is communicative and responsive – while being on call 24/7 isn’t realistic, you want a lawyer who gets back to you and communicates with you in a timely and professional manner.
